About Directors UK

Directors UK is the professional association for screen directors in the United Kingdom, representing over 8,000 members. Established in 1992, it originated from the Directors' and Producers' Rights Society (DPRS) and has evolved into a collective management organization.

We aim to protect and enhance the rights of directors through a sophisticated system for managing royalties, collaborating with broadcasters and international partners, and advocating for favorable working practices.

Membership

Membership is open to directors with a credit on a broadcast UK television program, commercially distributed feature film, or other publicly screened or commercially exploited audiovisual work. There are three membership categories:

Full Membership

For directors whose work is eligible under the Directors UK Distribution Scheme, offering access to all services and benefits including career development, legal advice, and more.

Associate Membership

For directors working on music videos, commercials, or other audiovisual projects, with access to career development resources and networking opportunities.

Distribution-Only Membership

For directors whose work is eligible under the Distribution Scheme but who do not wish to access other organizational benefits and services.

Services and Benefits

Payment Distribution: Collecting and distributing payments to directors through agreements with UK producers, broadcasters, and international partners.
Career Development: Offering training, workshops, and masterclasses to support directors' professional growth.
Legal Services: Providing access to legal advice and services on matters related to directing.
Networking Opportunities: Organizing events, screenings, and networking sessions, both online and in-person.
